In the heart of the Australian literary landscape, I found my sanctuary. It was January 26th, 2023, when I had a vision—to create a safe haven where Aussie readers like me could gather, connect, and share our love of reading without reservation. And thus, Books and Bitches was born.

What began as a modest gathering of like-minded individuals quickly burgeoned into a thriving hub of bookish delight. From the outset, my vision was clear: to cultivate a space where readers felt seen, heard, and valued. With each passing day, our community flourished, fueled by the passion and enthusiasm of its members.

As our community grew, so too did our offerings. Jessica Kane, a powerhouse of passion and dedication, who spearheaded the AR Bitches—a formidable team of ARC readers committed to championing Aussie authors and providing invaluable feedback to help them refine their craft.

Meanwhile, Jade Gordon, a spirited advocate for book promotion and community engagement, took the reins of the Boosting Bitches—a dynamic street team dedicated to spreading the word about Books and Bitches events, as well as supporting indie authors far and wide.

And then there was Clair Szulik, a beloved member with a flair for organization and a heart for authors, stepped up to lead the Bitchin Authors group—a dedicated space for Aussie writers to connect, collaborate, and support one another on their literary journeys.

But the story doesn't end there. Inspired by the boundless creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of our community, I embarked on a new adventure: the creation of Tome & Tallow—a boutique candle business that captures the essence of beloved literary worlds in every flickering flame.

Together, these diverse and dynamic groups form the beating heart of Books and Bitches—a place where readers become friends, authors become allies, and the magic of storytelling knows no bounds. With each passing day, our community continues to grow and evolve, guided by our shared values of inclusivity, passion, and above all, a deep and abiding love for the written word.
